Biology was taught intermittently at Princeton since 1830, however it was not until the formation of the School of Science in 1870 that the subject was consistently included as part of the curriculum. Edwin Grant Conklin was an American biologist. In addition to his work in embryology, he also wrote on the subject of evolution, of which he was a strong proponent.
